Whatís In a Name?

Mothers Jamaica The name "Motherís" was chosen because of its many positive associations, among them quality food, and an atmosphere of warmth and caring. Originally, this name was intended for outlets selling patties only. The Park Plaza outlet, which was the second to come on stream, was called "Circus Circus", as it was intended to sell ice cream products only.

The next two locations sold a combination of patties and ice cream, and were called "Mother's/Circus Circus". Subsequently, a decision was made to use the Mother's name exclusively, as a public survey revealed that it was the stronger of the two.

At the Companyís inception the shareholders made a long-term strategic decision to re-invest all profits directly back into the business. As a result, Mother's has shown impressive growth over its short lifetime, opening on average of one new store each year. The number of employees has spiraled from 30 to almost 600, in 2006.

The policy of re-employing profits in the business for expansion is still in effect, as evidenced by Mother's purchase in 1995 of its factory and corporate office on Retirement Road. In 2005 a major expansion of the factory space and production capacity started and is slated to be completed in 2007 to meet anticipated demand by new Franchises and other retail outlets.

I.S.O. 9001:2000 QualityMotherís is taking the most important step in its history by becoming certified by the International Standards Organization. We have begun the process of implementing the I.S.O. 9001:2000 Quality standard.

The major benefits are: Increased Efficiency, Improved Customer Service, Reduced Waste Greater Customer Satisfaction, Documented Procedures, Greater Job Satisfaction and Improved Product Quality.

Mother's Rural LocationWhile most of the restaurants are located in the corporate area, Mother's has plans to open more outlets in the rural areas. There are restaurants in Portmore, Spanish Town, Linstead, Ocho Rios, May Pen, Mandeville, Santa Cruz, and Morant Bay. Plans are underway to start franchises in Old Harbour, Montego Bay and other areas. Presently operated locations are also available for Franchise.

Ensuring that its foundation remains solid while pursuing an aggressive and strategic growth programme is also another Company hallmark. Thus, older restaurants are regularly refurbished in accordance with international standards and to maintain the Motherís brand.
